The Jewel is comprised of the Grand nine, across the street from the hotel; and the Woods nine, set in the interior of Mackinac Island. The Jewel features scenic beauty, lush landscaping and meticulously manicured tees, fairways and greens.
The Grand nine was built in 1901 and redesigned in 1987. The Woods nine, added in 1994, was designed by golf course architect Jerry Matthews. Transportation between the Grand nine and Woods nine is by specially designed horse-drawn carriage. Clubs are available for rental. Golf carts and pull carts are available. Every season at Grand Hotel has to come to an end. It is a unique experience as we close the doors for the winter months. Bob Tagatz, the hotel’s historian and concierge will do a presentation explaining the process we go through to close the hotel, as well as fun facts and interesting information from the 2015 season.

The 69th Annual Lilac Festival on Mackinac Island is a ten day festival held in honor of the flower Mackinac Island is known for. The lilac is a spectacular variety with a distinct history. In fact some are more than 200 years old. We invite you to come join the celebration and experience the splendor of the lilac as they are in bloom throughout the island.
