The 2022 Fort2Fort 5 Mile Challenge with be held both In-Person on Saturday, May 14, 2022 and as a Virtual Race. Proceeds from both events help support the Mackinac Historic State Parks!
The In-Person race will feature a “rolling start” from 8:00 am – 9:30 am, allowing all participants a safe and socially distanced race.
The Virtual Race can be run or walked anytime at participant’s convenience. All virtual times can be logged by the participant in a separate Virtual Race category (no awards).
Note: COVID guidelines will be monitored to make sure race is in compliance with the guidelines in effect at time of the race; participants will be notified as soon as possible if any adjustments need to be made.
STARTING TIME
The start of both the 5 Mile Run and Walk will be a “Rolling” start, which means participants will begin the race when they arrive at the start line, any time between 8:00 am and 9:30 am. We encourage those who are already on the Island to take advantage of the earlier start times to reduce congestion in the staging area.
The Start will be outside Fort Mackinac on Huron Road. You may pick up your bib prior to the race – shirts can be received then or you can get it at the finish.

Fort doors will be open and rest rooms available inside. Restrooms are also available outside at the Huron Road Pavilion.
LOCATION
Race will start on Huron Road behind Fort Mackinac. Race will finish in on the lawn behind and east of Fort Mackinac.

Join us on Saturday, June 4, 2022, to kick off the 74th Mackinac Island Lilac Festival with a great morning race to enjoy the early season beauty on the Island. The course will provide you with the tree-covered paved roads through the center of the Island, and tremendous lake views with the Mackinac Bridge on the horizon. This is certainly a race you don’t want to miss!.
Lil’ Lilac Kid’s Race!
There will be a special event for young children starting at 11:15, at the school. Children will run on the lawn outside the school (either 150 or 300 yards, depending on age and ability), and receive a medal at the finish. Race registration fee is $10 and includes a shirt.

The Lilac Festival Run & Walk will start in front of Wyndamere Park on Main Street and finish in the Mackinac Island School yard. (The start is 5 Minutes from the school, so please allow enough time).
The Lil’ Lilac Kids Run will begin and end at the Mackinac Island Public School. Children will run either 150 or 300 yards on the lawn outside the school.

2023 Mackinac Island Trio Series!
Register for three RunMackinac races (either the Fort2Fort 5 Mile or the Lilac Festival 10K, plus both the Mackinac Eight Mile and the Great Turtle Trail Race) and you will receive a special Mackinac Island Trio Series medal. This will be a separate medal from the other finisher’s medals you will receive at the completion of all three races, and will be awarded following the Great Turtle Half Marathon. You can register individually for all three events and be eligible for the Trio and the medal.
