Newberry - February 24, 2008
This is a picture of a group of sledders who are part of the Snowmobile Club of Adams Co. Pa
The club presented a $300 donation to TASA as a way of thanking TASA for the great job on grooming the area trails.
TASA owes a big thanks to the Snowmobile Club of Adams Co, Pa! 10 of their 100+ members have been riding in the Newberry area for the past week (and some of the group has been riding TASA trails for several years!) and took time out of their schedule to stop by the TASA barn and present the donation to President Bob Brown (AKA Trail Boss Bob).
Since December, Brian Richardson (pictured far left) has been in contact with TASA Secretary, Cathy Clementz several times to make arrangements to meet with members of TASA and present TASA with the donation.
TASA warmly thanks the whole club and gives special mention to those that were able to make the trip to Newberry from Pennsylvania and Maine; Brian and Robin Richardson, Fred and Sandy Halbach, John and Wendy Devereux and Rodney and Gail Hale. THANKS ALSO TO JOHN AND EMMA HOSSLER! THANKS!

Newberry - February 21, 2008
TASA had a VERY stuck groomer WITH a broken axle on the Falls trail the night/day of 2/18/08 to 2/19/08. It required 4 TASA guys AND the help of 3 Ohio sledders who gave up a WHOLE day of riding to assist in the rescue and repair of the groomer. The complete story can be found at www.yooperyarns.com. A BIG HELMETS OFF TO JEFF SEIGLY, KEVIN SEIGLY AND LARRY ELKHERT FROM TIFFIN, OHIO! You guys are TASA TROOPERS and unofficial YOOPERS! Photo Courtesy of Northcountry Campground and Cabins |

THE CROSS ON NEWBERRY'S TRAIL #45
About 6 years ago (possibly a bit longer), Trail Boss Bob was grooming on #45 (The Falls Trail). A group of sleds came flying past him on the trail and disappeared in a cloud of snow dust. Bob estimates that they were traveling about 60 mph at the time. A bit further down the trail, a snowmobiler was coming towards Bob from the other direction and flagged Bob down. One of the group (who we later found out was his first time riding) had hit a tree and was in serious shape. Bob immediately called 911 and proceeded up the trail as quickly as he could with the groomer. The person that had alerted Bob to the accident was trying to keep traffic from coming upon the accident. I'm not sure what the others were doing; most likely feeling pretty helpless. Bob said that the man's helmet had blood coming out of it and the man had blood coming out of his mouth. The rescue sled and EMT's arrived and the man died on route to the hospital.
Bob erected this cross as a reminder to our snowmobilers to please be careful. Anytime anyone dies on a TASA trail, a cross is erected. Fortunately you don't see a lot of them....and we would like to keep it that way. Photo Courtesy of Northcountry Campground and Cabins |

Newberry - December 5, 2007
Photo taken 12/5/07 Groomer Dan Clementz on the South TASA trail, making a swath so the guys could get in with a 4 WD truck to finish a few signs. The snow was so deep, even after going through with the groomer, that the 4WD truck got stuck. Luckily they had a strap and Groomer Dan could pull the truck out. It ended up with all 3 guys in the groomer to get to the area to sign (instead of trying the truck again!). Thanks to Buzz Medalis (one of TASA's groomers) for the photo! Newberry - April 5, 2007
On our property, we have at least 18" of snow and it just keeps coming. There are 4-5' drifts in front of the barns, around the vehicles, etc. The wind is howling at times. This is supposed to last until sometime on Friday. It is expected to be in the single digits to teens tonight, 20's tomorrow. Monday we could get back up to 37. That wound be lovely....sorry, I digress. So, yes you CAN ride, but be prepared for deep snow, heavy in places light in others. The trails are not groomed, there are CR's you can ride.
