Western U.P. - September 21, 2006 In a Word....WOW! The color is bringing a red riot...vibrant oranges...bright yellows and golds. Color this year is much brighter than last years' pastel tones. Driving back & forth from Bessemer to Ironwood, my 'bench mark' for color is always the Big Skier on U.S. 2 & Powderhorn Rd. He's positioned in front of a great mix of hardwoods, softwoods, pines, etc. When those leave burst in to color...I say the season is underway.
