Michigan Fall Color Update -
October 9-15, 2008
Fall Color Peaking in
Michigans Upper
Peninsula This weekend
may be the prime time to head for
Michigans Upper Peninsula
to view fall color in all its
glory. Fall color across much of
the U.P. is near or at peak
conditions, reports AAA Michigan.
The quality of the annual color
show is reported as
excellent in popular
viewing locations such as Copper
Harbor, Ontonagon and St. Ignace.
AAAs weekly survey of state
parks and regional visitors
bureaus shows that peak color is
still a week away in most areas
of the Northwest Lower Peninsula.
Naturalists at Mitchell State
Park in Cadillac, Orchard Beach
State Park in Manistee and
Petoskey State Park in Petoskey
report color development between
40 and 50 percent in those
regions, with plenty of red,
yellow and orange hues to
complete the palette.

Report

Current Fall Color Is Peak
We are at peak and it is
gorgeous! The wind is taking a
lot of leaves from the trees, but
there is still ample color to be
found. It won't be long and we
will be on the downside of peak,
so come up now! M-117 which runs
from U.S. 2 to M-28 is just
beautiful! Even in the rain! The
colors from M-28 to the Junction
of M-123 (just south of Newberry)
will captivate your eyes as well!
SO PACK YOUR BAGS! NOW IS THE
TIME!!!

Current Fall Color Is Peak
More gorgeous color is showing up
each day and it's
outstanding--there's still quite
a bit of green which makes us
think we may get the season
extended a bit. Lots of vibrant
red, burgundy and orange. We're
at peak in many areas-very near
in others. US 2-M-28-M-64-Lake
Road...just about anywhere you
go. When you cover such a vast
area, this typically happens
every color season. It is
definitly worth the drive-and
you'll for sure get some great
shots when you bring along your
cameras. Expect inland color to
last at least through the first
week in October and color along
the shore of Lake Superior
another week to ten days longer.
Come up and Enjoy!
