The Accidentals - Music In The Park

Named among Yahoo Music’s “Top 10 Bands to Watch in 2017,” The Accidentals’ adventure began in their hometown of Traverse City, MI. Dubbing themselves after the musical notes that fall outside of a key signature, The Accidentals have recorded and released three studio albums to popular applause and critical acclaim.

Collaborations with local artists, independent filmmakers, and their own national tour have led The Accidentals to perform over a thousand live shows in the past five years.

7pm, Marquette Park, Mackinac Island – Free

With a spectacular backdrop, our summer concert series takes place on the lawn of a National Historic Landmark, Marquette Park, which is at the foothills of Historic Fort Mackinac downtown across from the marina. Bring a picnic and tune in for some great live folk, rock, country, blues—the best of Americana. All concerts are free. We recommend bringing a blanket or lawn chairs for your comfort.

Mackinac Arts Council

Last Spring, The Mackinac Arts Council worked in collaboration with Mackinac Island Public School to secure a grant from the Community Foundation to take students on a field trip to see ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. This Grant was funded by the MARLEE BROWN MUSSER COMMUNITY ARTS FUND, Mackinac Arts Council and a donation from Earl Holton. The goal was to expose the students to world class art and to inspire them to interact with artwork and express themselves creatively. Among the students were the MIPS Photo Club who enjoyed taking photographs of the artwork and posing with it as well. All of the students who attended were amazed by the artwork and expressed having a great time. Very wonderful. Earl Holton, the philanthropist got his start in Cedar Springs, Michigan. He started as a grocery bagger for Meijers in Cedar Springs. He worked his way all the way up to being one of the presidents of the Meijers Corporation. Sticking with a job and not job jumping paid off and he gave us all a great lesson of stick- to- it -ness
