Gogebic County Fair – August 25 – 28, 2016

At many fairs, you pay at the gate, pay at the Carnival Midway, pay for the Grandstand Concerts, pay for watching the Tough Trucks or Mud Run….it can get very expensive!

At the Gogebic County Fair, we have an “All Inclusive Price Program”. When entering the fair, and you pay your gate admission, (per person ages 4 and up) a wristband is placed on your wrist and you can enjoy the fair all day. Free Carnival Ride, Free Grandstand Shows and Free Events on the grounds! If you need to leave the fair and you want to return, you can re-enter the fair that day with your wristband FREE!, and then just enjoy the events, concerts and Spectrum Entertainment Carnival Rides! The only other money you will spend at the fair is for the great fair food from our many vendors, to play the fun carnival games and any of the merchandise you purchase on the grounds from one of our many vendors. Enjoy Harness Racing, Grandstand Concerts & Shows, On Ground Entertainment and more for FREE!

This may sound to good to be true, but it is true! And if you are looking to SAVE!, pick a up a $30.00 Season Pass good for all four days of admission.

Crystal Mountain – Chairlift Rides with Live Entertainment – August 26, 2017

Enjoy panoramic views of three counties and top-of-the-mountain attractions including live musical entertainment.

Chairlift rides are on our Crystal Clipper Quad Chairlift located in the center of our frontside slopes. Tickets are available for purchase at the base of the Crystal Clipper. Cash bar available at the top of the mountain.

Cost: Chairlift rides are $7 per person. Houseguests and children 8 & under are free with a paying adult.

Mackinac Island Festival of the Horse – (No Festival For 2016)

The Mackinac Horsemen’s Association holds an annual Mackinac Island Festival of the Horse to celebrate the horse’s role on the island. In the past we have held lectures, workshops, pony rides, carriage parades, demonstrations, stable tours and the ever-popular Breed Show. Events take place at the Borough Lot beneath Grand Hotel. Proceeds from the festival support MHA projects. The 2016 Festival is TBD – tentative dates are

MHA will not be hosting Festival of the Horse in 2016. Watch here for notices for 2017.

In a copy of the Mackinac Horsemen’s Association publication, “Mackinac Hoofbeats”, Phil Porter (Director of the Mackinac Island Historic State Parks) talks about the importance of the horse on the island. He says, “I don’t think people always realize the full impact of the auto ban,” referring to the 1898 prohibition of automobiles. “Because cars were banned so early, the island never changed to accommodate an automotive world.
