Bessemer Pumpkin Festival – September 28 – October 1, 2017

Welcome to the 39th Annual Bessemer Pumpkin Festival.

ALL EVENTS ARE STILL TENTATIVE AND MAY CHANGE

The Bessemer Pumpkinfest Committee is proud to sponsor this year’s event where you’ll find activities for the entire family.

Festivities begin Thursday evening, September 28, with the “Business After 5” social at the Pit Stop Bar & Grill. This event is co-sponsored by the First National Bank of Bessemer, The Leather & Gift Shop, & Pit Stop Bar & Grill. Also starting Thursday evening are the 50/50 raffle & poker run, and geo-caching.

The Bessemer Historical Society opens its doors from 1 – 4 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday. Stop by and see the many displays depicting Bessemer’s history and heritage

On Friday evening from 6 to 11 p.m., we are offering FREE carnival rides for all ages, food, & games. There’ll be “dancin in the streets,” at least on Sophie Street, from 7 – 10 p.m. with music provided by a local DJ.

If you’re looking for some adventure, take the short drive to Copper Peak and enjoy their Adventure Ride. They will be open from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. all weekend. Also, helicopter rides will be taking off from the field east of Steiger’s Home Center from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Poker Run begins on Friday with drawings at midnight on Friday & Saturday at the Pit Stop Bar & Grill.

On Saturday, September 30, begin your day with a hearty Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast at the St. Sebastian School (regular pancakes are available too). The St. Sebastian Knights of Columbus fire up the griddle from 7 – 11 a.m.

After breakfast, the entire family can spend the day downtown with special activities for kids (and adults who want to act like kids). Vendor and food booths will be all along Sophie Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with entertainment throughout the day.

Sophie Street activities include a costume kiddies parade, carnival, ventriloquist Dave Parker and Skippy performances, balloon characters and face painting by Happy Dayz the Clown & Twinklz, pumpkin bowling, pony rides and petting zoo, and a number of contests. Please see the Contests page for more information.

Pumpkinfest T-shirts can be purchased at our information booth and BP gas station.

The Hunt for the Reds of October – Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail – Weekdays in October

Weekdays during October

$10 per person

Includes signature wine glass, a complimentary red wine pour at each winery and a $5 donation to the American Red Cross. Great wine for a great cause— It doesn’t get better than that!

Leelanau Peninsula has become well-known for its Riesling and other cool-climate white varietals and blends. What is often overlooked, however, are the high-quality red wines being grown in the region.

To help get beneath the surface, the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail hosts a fun event to explore and discover great red wines of Leelanau Peninsula. The Hunt for the Reds of October takes place weekdays (Monday through Friday) during the month of October.

For the entire month of October, your ticket gets you a complimentary pour at each of more than 20 participating wineries offering diverse red wines: big and bold Cabernet Francs and Merlots, aromatic and spicy Pinot Noirs and many more.
