The Highlander Mountain Bike Race is a real mountain bike race, on real mountain bike trails, created by real mountain bikers, for real mountain bikers.
Don’t miss this opportunity on September 24, 2016 to race on some of Northern Michigan’s premiere mountain bike trails with some of the area’s top racers. Our 7-9 mile loop along with road rollout and singletrack return will take you through some of Northern Michigan’s most scenic and challenging trails.
With natural features and man-made features this race course will have it’s share of challenges for every style rider at every level. The “long” racer will consist of two laps around this gorgeous track and the “short” race will do one lap. We can’t wait to rub tires and share some dirt with you this September.
FREE Kids Race
Under 6: This will be a short course on pavement for kids with Striders, scooters, and training wheels and starts at 2 pm.
Under 11: This will consist of multiple laps around the pond and will be around a quarter to a half mile and starts at 2:05 pm.
Under 16: This will consist of some singletrack and will be 2 to 5 miles long. Some sections will not be visible from spectator area and will start at 2:15 pm.
Short Youth Race: This is one lap on the regular course just like the adults and will take place at the SAME TIME as the adult race.

So sorry to see this race end! It was so well organized and the crew at The Outfitter has done an awesome job with it, but we sure understand the need for a break. For those who like the route, please keep in mind that the Stafford's Top of Michigan Marathon/Festival of Races takes place on Saturday, May 26th this year. This includes the marathon, a half-marathon, a 10K and 5K and uses the same route as the Little Traverse Half Marathon. Sign up is still available. goo.gl/d3omJE

I am incredibly bummed!! After another half marathon I ran 3x cancelled I found this one and ran it in October for the first time. I fell in love and was REALLY looking forward to doing it again this year. Please bring it back!! 😢
Oh no! Loved the event and drove 900 miles, round trip, to run it not once, but twice. I was hopeful of a third 😢 thanks to all the volunteers who made my sweet memories possible.

I also drove 5 1/2 hours to run this twice and was looking forward to doing it again. Great race! Thanks for your hard work organizing it and I look forward to seeing it return one day.
