This is the right decision. Thank you for being proactive and making this decision early enough for us to adjust plans

This is the right decision. Thank you for putting people and safety first.

This is truly the right decision for the athletes safety! We truly appreciate all your efforts trying to make this work!!!

This is the best choice for everyone’s safety, thank you for announcing it well before race day.

Sad, but I think the correct decision. And I appreciate having been told well in advance!

Thank you for taking care of athletes and spectators.

Thank you for protecting IM athletes and their families. This was a hard decision, but you made the right call. Thank you!! Can't wait for 2021!

While this is a bummer, I'm glad I know this far in advance so I can shift my focus for the remainder of the summer on things I want to do versus training.

Thank you. I made my decision to pull out of the race 3 days ago so now I don’t feel quite so terrible. Many thanks to Joel Gaff and the entire race crew for working so hard behind the scenes to try to make this happen. I’m sure it was a difficult job and an even more difficult decision.

Difficult, but wise decision. Next year!

I expected this. Right decision.

Thank you for making the right decision and for letting us know in a timely manner. Very much appreciated. See you in 2021!

So sad but this is the right call 😞 Thanks for having safety in mind.

Thankful a decision has been made in a timely matter. Thank you.

Thanks for making the right tough and hard decision. We will be back stronger than ever in 2021!

Thanks for the notice so far out! Greatly appreciated!

Yeah! They saw the writing on the wall! Deferr it until next year!

Though it is sad that these amazing athletes cannot compete, we can’t wait for next year!

Bravo for doing the right thing!!! Focus on next year ... πŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍β™‚οΈπŸƒ‍β™€οΈπŸƒ‍♂️

What I’d like to know is will we be racing outside in Traverse City in August? πŸ€”

no

I would like to bring a concern to the Ironman community. There will be an Ironman held on August 20th this year which I'm sure under normal circumstances would be an incredible event. Due to COVID-19, my pregnant wife and I are unable to attend and participate in the event for multiple reasons. First, we do not feel comfortable being in close quarters next to untested athletes. Second, we are not comfortable with the accommodations due to the unknown sanitary standards. Third, the Ironman organization has done little to provide insight into how they will be mitigating risk at the event. The reason I bring this to your attention is because they are not offering athletes a refund if they are concerned with the current COVID pandemic. Although I have offered a doctor's note stating that I should not expose myself to any situation that could put my wife at heightened risk, they are still referring athletes to a refund policy page that does not take COVID into account. Ironman Organizations shameful quote in response to my request: "I'm aware that your circumstances are extraordinary, but truthfully, there is no fair way for us to ascertain the worth of each individual's story and apply a corresponding valuation." I sent the Ironman response to local traverse city officials and their response to my concern: "Thank you for taking the time to contact us and I agree, it is an egregious position to take from the organizers of the Ironman. We will be bringing this concern to more members of our team and the Ironman organization. We will not support any event that would jeopardize the safety and health of even one person. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. "

IRONMAN VR7: a distance for everyone!

Run 1.5 km, bike 20 km, and run 5 km this weekend and let's make this the biggest virtual race so far. There's still plenty of time to make an account and register to compete for free!
