It was a beautiful day celebrating the life of our co-worker and friend, Brent Nelson, during todayโs employee golf outing.
All proceeds from the the Brent Nelson Classic are applied to a scholarship for Shanty Creek employees.
The BNC has raised over $20,000 since its inception, and we know just how proud Brent would be of the magnitude of this feat.

NMC Biology Instructor and Assessment Coordinator Nicholas Roster is in his 18th year teaching at NMC, and is discussing his grading scale, and why other instructors should consider utilizing it.
Instead of a 100-point grading scale, he uses equity grading that uses a zero-to-4 scale, where the zero is failing and the 4 is an A grade. Read more from the Record-Eagle: bit.ly/3yfwBbX

Navis Johnson this is not how it works at all. I suggest actually reading the article and you might have an understanding of is happening and appreciate what he is doing.
Brilliant!! Educators who care to make sure you learn the subject !
This concept is 20 years old.
Sounds like I wouldn’t want my doctor graded that way. They can get 8 of 10 questions wrong and still pass. Sounds like woke ridiculousness to me.

On #WorldAnimalDay we are honoring our Piping Plovers.
This endangered species calls the shores of Lake Michigan at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore home (at least part of the year). This species was put on the endangered species list in 1986 and was down to 17 pairs. Today the population has recovered to 72 pairs, 31 of these pairs nest at the Lakeshore.
It was a record-breaking year for Great Lakes Piping Plover nesting success, with 150 chicks fledging (fledging is when young birds gain the ability to fly and become independent of their parents) in the wild. Ten more chicks were raised in captivity after their nests were abandoned, which increases the total to 160 chicks! Seventy-two chicks were raised in the wild here at Sleeping Bear Dunes or released here after being raised in captivity.

We have deputies on the scene of a vehicle accident near N Keystone Rd and Cass Rd.
Keystone rd is shut down at this time.
... See MoreSee Less
I was out for my once a week drive yesterday which took me through the new Cass/Keystone roundabout, also did Parsons Rd roundabout and went through US 31 North construction zone, and one of the main problems I see with a lot of drivers, is they do not want to slow down. Guess people are just trying to cram as much in their waking hours as they possibly can, to actually slow down and be careful and respectful of other drivers on the road?
Respect all people at a roundabout. NOT just the people on what road that they think is still the main part of the road. YEILD MEANS YEILD
We live at the corner of Keystone and River Rd where the other roundabout is. Up on the property we can hear so many cars and truck screaming through the intersection, barely slowing down long enough to get through the curves, then roaring out the other side like they’re starting the first lap of the Indy 500. Many lay on their horns if the car(s) ahead of them don’t move fast enough. Sad. Not very conducive to the peaceful atmosphere of our little therapy farm. Just slow down, people, sheesh. You’ll get where you’re going just the same, I promise.
Keystone is a MESS now! I drove it daily and EVERY single day there is someone who doesn’t understand how to drive around a roundabout. First the roundabouts are TOO TIGHT for a vehicle bigger than a truck. I’ve watched it too many times. I get cut off all the time in my own lane because the other person picked the wrong lane or took up two lanes just to get around! Whoever the designer was for these roundabouts should be fired! BUT the kicker is someone in the roadways department decided it was a good idea to close it down to one lane at 7:30am and back up traffic both ways for miles when people are trying to drive to work and then combine the issues with the roundabouts it’s a MESS! I travel it twice a day and it’s always a MESS!
Oh wow yea everyone is in such a big hurry these days
Another Accident around the Roundabout!!
How? ๐It was down to one lane open with men stopping traffic just an hour ago.
Hmmmm...gotta love the roundabouts
Hey it’s in the roundabout. Shocker.
Carmel Indiana is internationally known for its roundabout network. Since the late 1990’s Carmel has been building and replacing signalized intersections with roundabouts. Carmel now has more than 138 roundabouts, more than any other city in the United States. Roundabouts move traffic more efficiently and reduce the number of fatalities and serious-injury accidents. They work because of their safety record, their compatibility with the environment, their aesthetics and their ability to make it easier for pedestrians and bicyclists to navigate. The number of injury accidents in Carmel have reduced by about 80 percent and the number of accidents overall by about 40 percent. Our numbers are similar to those reported by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
It's back open
You ought to sit out at the roundabout on 72 and Lautner road and watch how many close calls there are. People who drive trucks are the worst. they seem to want to play chicken with everyone in the roundabout. I don't know how many times we have had to stop for people who have the yield sign and race to get through when you have the right of way. No one ever sees this until someone has had an accident.
I went through there this morning. Flagman stopping traffic on Keystone, huge line of cars because they are putting plants in the mediums.
Gee I thought we could get through the week without having any accidents, guess not.
Prayers all are ok
I avoid r abouts because hardly anyone knows what to do!!
waited for it to happen ๐
Is there a proper video for how to use a roundabout? Single and double. Maybe posting one that is correct will help.
Every day I see multiple posts on this page notifying residents of major accidents. I don't remember that happening in the past.
Is this cleared does anyone know
So much for these round abouts most don't ever pay attention
Omg ya I saw one tht wanted to jump in front of me and there was not enough room. I don't think thy understand a round about. Maybe Grand Traverse 911 should educate the rules up on how a round about should work? A video ๐ค? Might help folks.
Sounds like they need a jump ramp at that roundabout. Hope everyone is ok.
is dis at da wound a bout?? hmmmm

"STILL" CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!
Happy 10 Year Anniversary NLD! On October 4, 2012, we sold our very first spirits. As you can imagine, there were months and months of planning, work, and set up prior to that big day. Perhaps most importantly, we needed a still! The roof of our current tasting room had been modified to fit the much anticipated arrival of our handmade copper still. After months of delays, it finally arrived from Germany! Mark went right to work, putting it together and installing it in its current location. Distillation of NLD spirits could begin! The rest is, as they say... history! Check out these photos of how it all began.
